GLOBAL FILIPINO TEACHERS TRAINING PROGRAM
(ICT Integration using PBL Approaches)
A total of thirty-three teachers coming from 29 schools in 15 divisions of the country composed the first batch of the new trainees under the Global Filipino Teachers - Peer Coaching Program. Participants were chosen from over 200 hopefuls nationwide following a rigorous selection process. They gathered together to complete the 5-day intensive classroom enhancement training on ICT Integration using PBL Approaches. Thisblended-training program is designed to equip teachers with the knowledge, skills and attitude to integrate technology in the learning environment by seamlessly weaving project-based learning activities. The first two days of the training was conducted online or through face to face coaching by CBE’s accredited Peer Coaches. Successful mentees applied for the 3-day intensive face-to-face training which was held at Golden Prince Hotel and Suites in Cebu City on February 13-15, 2013.
Training participants came from Regions 1, 3, 4a, 7, 8, 9 and 11 from the Divisions of IlocosNorte, Bulacan, City of San Fernando, City of San Jose del Monte, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Tanjay City, Leyte, Ormoc City, Dapitan City, Zamboanga City, ZamboangaSibugay and Davao City. After successfully defending their PBL projects, the trainees were awarded Certificates of Completion.
Globe Telecom has been implementing the Global Filipino Teachers Program since 2009. The program has covered 12 out of 14 regions in the country and has produced exemplary teacher-leaders in the Department of Education’s public school system. Out of the 386 teachers trained in the program, 266 carry certificates of proficiency. 122 of these proficient teachers are now peer coaches. They are considered the new breed of teachers who are able to coach colleagues on ICT Applications, PBL Approaches, Authentic Assessment, Tele-collaboration and Educational Technology anytime, anywhere. The Coalition for Better Education (CBE), is Globe Telecom’s training partner in the implementation of the GFT Program.
