CBE HOLDS FIRST MIND-SHARE SESSION FOR THE YEAR
Responding to the call of membership to provide a regular venue to exchange current education-related issues, trends and pedagogies, CBE launched the first Mind-Share sessions last February 23, 2012, at the CefTEx Training Room. For its first topic, CBE invited Cebu Normal University (CNU) Guidance Counselor Prof. Emmanuel “Tata” Hernani to talk about “Understanding Child Behavior”.
The topic was identified in conjunction with the Dept. of Education rolling out the full implementation of the K to 12 Program effective this school year. Private and public schools will therefore be urged to learn, develop and implement better behavior management strategies to ensure appropriate response and intervention to children with behavioral problems and subsequently improve the school climate and culture. CBE members and partners, particularly pre-school practitioners, found the topic relevant in that it would help guide them on how to foster respect, responsibility and cooperation among their students and design proactive, positive behavior support strategies that will suit their classroom or school.
Major universities and pre-schools, such as the University of Cebu-Main and Lapu-lapu and Mandaue, University of the Visayas, University of San Jose-Recoletos, Cebu Eastern College, Paref Southdale, St. Michael's Play Garden, Our Lady of Joy Learning Center, St. Paul College Foundation, sent representatives to the seminar.
Future mind shares are being planned to further educate and raise the awareness of our members on topics that they themselves find significant and helpful for their own growth.
CBE Mind Share Sessions are scheduled every other month. The next mind share will be in April 2012.
